"This product works well, but in my case, 1 litter was way too much to fix all the holes in my travertine floors (about 1500 sq ft) in my condo. It's always good to finish the repair job with extra product in the can, in case you find another hole later, or another one opens up, but I was able to fix all the holes that developed during 5 years with perhaps 5% or less of the contents of that 1 litter can. So, I have 95% left. I don't know what's the shelf life of that can, but it seems to me that this product in this size is better for contractors who will use it in several jobs relatively fast, that for a home user. So, I'd recommend the seller to offer it in smaller sizes as well. So, even when the performance of the product is excellent, I rated it 4 stars for that reason."
"The Tenax product performs exactly as it was designed for. However, the purpose of this review is to allow users to know what they are in for when ordering this product. Before I purchased I also read many reviews to help me with my decision. The comment that stuck with me most was "use the product the professional contractors use". I bought after reading that. I received my product and was eager to get right on the hole patching project. I wanted to read the instructions on the can but, the sticky tape was placed in a way that only the English version of the instructions were stripped away and stuck to the tape never to be read. I even thought of scanning one of the other languages and translating but decided to make a couple of small test batches and then give it a go. The 1 liter size can is large enough to patch holes in at least 500 holes so figured I could waste a little with trial and error. I ended up with a 10:1 ratio and the only advice I would give is that once you mix your part A and part B make sure you have the holes cleaned and ready to fill. This product sets up within 3 minutes. Very easy to work with and can be polished and blended in right away. I highly recommend this for anyone that has travertine because you are going to have holes to patch."
"Tenax Travertine filler works exactly as advertised. I used it to fill cracks in about ten 12" x 12" marble floor tiles and in two ceramic tiles with a similar color. The cracks in the marble now look like natural veins in the stone. The cracks in the ceramic tiles are invisble. I also use it to fill a hole in one marble tile that was about 1" x ½ " across and about ½" deep, and it looks very good.Based on the aroma, it's a styrene-polyester resin similar to the material used to make fiberglass boats. It has a strong styrene and solvent odor and you should only use it in a ventilated area. You mix a small amount of peroxide into the resin to cause a chemical reaction that gives off heat and cures the resin, although the heat is imperceptible when you mix the small quantities needed for repairing cracks. You have to make very small batches because the mixed resin & catalyst start to gel in less than 5 minutes.Take a thumb-sized amount of the resin from the can and squeeze an amount of catalyst equal to the size of a chocolate bit out of the plastic tube and onto the blob of resin. Mix the two immediately a with a flat bladed spatula or a wood shim split lengthwise -- something stiff and flat. Mix it quickly and thoroughly, put some of the mixture on a spackling knife and use the knife blade to wipe the filler into the crack as fast as you can. You can clean up with glass scraper by waiting until the filler cures hard (about 30 minutes) or you can wipe the excess off with a paper towel dampened with a solvent like Goof Off or acetone. It's best to use vinyl gloves rather than work with you bare hands, but you can clean your hands with the same solvents. The 12 lineal feet or so of thin cracks that I filled plus the small hole used about 1/20th of what's in a one liter can (almost a quart). It's buff colored as it comes out of the can but Tenax makes pigments to make it darker, so you could adjust it to a darker marble. Just be sure to mix very small quantities and you'll be OK."
"I used the dremmel to clear out the cracks/chips and holes. I cleaned them well with acetone. Then, voila! Presto...no more crack chip or hole. You either have to work fast or make small batches as it dries rather quickly. I chose small batches. Worked like a charm. Feels/looks like travertine. "muss"fuss."
"I ordered this product to fill in the holes in our travertine floor and it does the job but dries very quickly. I recommend cleaning the holes first, then mixing the glue and hardener and then applying to mixture to the holes. Once you add the hardener to the glue, the mixture will dry fast so it is best to work in small batches. The filler blends well with the original travertine."
"Tenax Travertine filler works as advertise. Work time is very short. I would say 3 minutes if that before mix is unusable. Only fill one hole at a time. Use razor blade to scrap off excess prior to setting up. Experiment with mixing prior to filling hole. That way you have an idea on how to best use the filler."
"Bought it and used it about two years ago to fill a hole about 2 by 1 inch in the high foot traffic area in front of my fridge and other smaller spots. Its still holding strong. Got to work fast once you mix in the hardner to slice away the excess with a straight razor because it does harden quickly. It helps to start with the smaller holes to get the hang of it before attacking the larger ones. The color blends in well with my flooring. Nobody has seemed to have noticed the repairs. I highly recommend this product.Tenax Travertine Filler - 1 liter"
"I scoured the Internet looking for the best travertine hole repair product. I wasn't sure I made the right choice until I actually tried it. I have"regrets after using it. Be cautious, read and follow the directions, and you'll get really good results."
"This is actually cream colored automotive Bondo. At least it looks and smells like it. However, the hardener that comes with it is different than that used for automotive applications, and it causes the filler to set up hard as rock. The curing time is about the same and you have to work quickly. I used a 6 inch straight blade to trim the filler flush with the surface after it starting setting up and before it got too hard. And I used the smaller holes for practice. After the filler set up completely, about 30 minutes, I polished it with a fine grit sanding sponge and it turned out very well.I used the brown coloring agent, but it's hard to get a darker color that matched our shade of travertine. I learned to put a small drop on the mixing board, and far away from the working batch, and just touch it with my knife and work it in using the smallest amounts I could. This way I was able to get just the right shade without having to discard a batch of too dark filler. And of course I got the color right before I added the hardener.I love this stuff."
"This product is perfect for those holes that naturally develop in Travertine floors. My only concern was the light buff color but I toned that down after the material cured with a wipe of oil based stain. Looks great and wife is happy."
